Meet the Captain

Recognizing the need people have to relax, unwind and enjoy time on the water, Captain Jonathan Featherston is serious about ensuring a safe, professional and carefree boating experience for all guests.

A lifelong outdoorsman he brings deep passion and respect for the water to every charter excursion.

First introduced to boating by his father, Captain Jonny had developed a deep love for fishing, hunting and outdoor recreation at a young age. Having cruised and fished in rivers, lakes and oceans across the country, Captain Jonny continues his family tradition by passing his enthusiasm for boating to his children and to guests aboard his 25' center-console Dusky.

Whether helping guests reel in the Pompano Beach area's famous Pompano, sailfish, mahi, mackerel, tarpon, jacks and snappers, or providing insight to sea turtles habits and habitats, Captain Jonny's natural exuberance, curiosity, and knowledge puts people of all ages at ease on the water.

On cruises and charters, he often points out what tourists normally don't see - from gorgeous homes along  the beautiful Intracoastal waterway to local fish, reefs, sandbars, crustaceans, bits of seaweed, floating bamboo, vegetation, and weed lines, as well as the unique birds and wildlife that thrive in this ecosystem (some of which are threatened by habitat changes).

Captain Jonny loves seeing those "Aha!" moments when guests take it all in with great excitement or simply during moments of personal reflection and enjoyment of nature.

Inspired by the diverse thoughts, experiences, and ages of his guests, Captain Jonny is happy to maintain a comfortable, silent space for those who simply want to breathe in the bounty of nature. It's also not uncommon for him to participate in lively discussions, break out in song, or engage in games with the kiddos.

Before earning his captain's license from the U.S. Coast Guard, Captain Jonny had attended Sea School in Fort Lauderdale, which is considered the nation's premier maritime training school. His training included all practical aspects of boating including "rules of the road," radio operation, survival techniques, distress signaling, boating terminology, boat equipment, use of flairs, use of life jackets, techniques of seamanship, anchoring, navigation, aids to navigation, boat registration, knot tying, firefighting and more - and passing a proctored exam. Before and while attending Sea School, Captain Jonny had also served as first mate on a variety of other charter boats along southeastern Florida.

Now living the life of his dreams, Captain Jonny loves sharing his sea-life passion with
people like you. And, running his own charter boat allows him to help others build great memories that last a lifetime.
